IBAN will become the standard in Switzerland for all payments. The biggest advantage is that you pay no additional costs for cross-border transactions and your payment details are matched in full and more accrutely.

For now payments within Switzerland that do not use an IBAN are not being charged with extra costs but may be in the near future. Watch out for a notice from your local bank...!

A Swiss IBAN has 21 characters. The IBAN is split into groups of 4 characters, which makes it easier to read.
